A Devoted husband and father,
and a True friend.

A Saint Francis prayer goes this way-
Let me be an Instrument of your peace.
Let me not seek to be consoled, as to console
Let me not seek to be loved, as to Love
Let me not seek to be understood, as to understand.
For it is in giving that we receive.
And in death we are born to eternal life.

Siva In my opinion was that.

Not part of the deal Siva....this...for whom the bells tolls now, so suddenly without notice, for someone who treats all as friend, and all friends allike, rich or poor, better or for worse....in you I saw truth...in you,I shall continue to belief...and in you, shall find the strength to continue...an extraordinary soul, enriched and touched all whom he dealt with...remembered fondly, missed terribly, cherised always.......

Friendship.......in the immortal words of GB....for you Dr Siva, only for you.........

And a youth said, "Speak to us of Friendship."

Your friend is your needs answered.

He is your field which you sow with love and reap with thanksgiving.

And he is your board and your fireside.

For you come to him with your hunger, and you seek him for peace.

When your friend speaks his mind you fear not the "nay" in your own mind, nor do you withhold the "ay."

And when he is silent your heart ceases not to listen to his heart;

For without words, in friendship, all thoughts, all desires, all expectations are born and shared, with joy that is unacclaimed.

When you part from your friend, you grieve not;

For that which you love most in him may be clearer in his absence, as the mountain to the climber is clearer from the plain.

And let there be no purpose in friendship save the deepening of the spirit.

For love that seeks aught but the disclosure of its own mystery is not love but a net cast forth: and only the unprofitable is caught.

And let your best be for your friend.

If he must know the ebb of your tide, let him know its flood also.

For what is your friend that you should seek him with hours to kill?

Seek him always with hours to live.

For it is his to fill your need, but not your emptiness.

And in the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.

For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.

The eulogy for Siva...........

Yes, Siva has certainly touched each and everyone one of us in different ways.

Siva was our school mate in La Salle Brickfields till the age of 15 (LSB Class of 76) and later in Catholic High School in PJ where we completed our higher secondary education.

After his result Siva aspired to go and do his degree but due to financial difficulties he had to start working. Siva came to visit me almost every evening and weekend and spent a lot of time at my parents place in Bungsar Park. A couple of months later I realised that he was infact coming to visit my cousin sister, Margaret Cecilia who briefly lived with us in Bangsar Park.

Siva diligently saved his money over the next 2 to 3 years and when he had barely enough he made the bold step to go to the US to do his undergraduate. He worked and studied in the US. Upon the successful completion of his degree he came back to Malaysia to marry his sweetheart Cecelia and took her with him to the US to complete his Masters.

Siva worked in the us after his graduation but after a couple of years Siva decided to return back to Malaysia as he had a yearning to see his mother and perhaps many of us here whom he must have surely missed.

Siva and Susie had a son John Prakash whom Siva loved so very much and he once told me that it was the greatest gift of all to him from God. Siva was a devoted husband, a responsible father, a caring son and a loyal friend. Siva’s hobby and passion was education and he enjoyed mentoring and advising students. Education was in his vein and he continued to educate others as well as himself and eventually received his PHD.

What is it that we remember when we think of Siva? I think everyone who knows him very well would agree with me on this. Siva was a never says ‘no’ guy and he will always there for anyone who needed help. Siva was many things, He was courageous, he was intelligent, and he was kind and most of all a very down to earth simple chap. He was great company when we all got together and the La Salle boys of class 76 are privileged to have had a friend called Siva.

Siva faced his illness with courage, and a determination. He was determined to fight this illness. Siva did not tell anyone of his illness as he felt he would overcome it and get better but it so happens that God had other plans for him.

So at this moment when we are about to lay his body to rest, let’s all think back and remember how Siva touched our lives. How he made us laugh and how good Siva was as a person. This is not the moment for us to shed our tears but we should all be thankful that we were given the chance to have known Siva.

Siva will forever be missed!

Basil,

I could not find your e-mail but could you see this website and communicate with me. I want to get all the Brickfields La Sallians together in one web-site with names and e-mails.
